I read the stickys on the best oils and the moderators recommended me make a thread on this.
What would be the best brand oil to use and OCIs?

Agree! I'd go for whichever one is on sale at the time. Plenty of good choices.

BOF -
I assume 'Cajun country' is not a restaurant in Northern Canada.
So 5-20 or maybe a 5-30 in your warm environment would be just fine..

That would be Louisiana.

I wanted to run 5W30 but I got feedback stating my engine would blow up,it would start burning oil,it is ONLY suppose to use 5W20,(the 5W20 police would arrest me)

That's only for the ones that can't see through the CAFE charade, I've been using 5w30 in my '07 Grand Marquis since I bought it over four years ago... Runs perfect, uses zero oil...

Your vehicle will run fine on either 5W-20 or 5w30. Neither will cause it blow up or anything else. I've been using 5W-20 in my Grand Marquis for the last 70K+ miles driving through the deserts of Ca and Arizona all summer long. I've seen ambient air temperature as high as 116F.

Personally my current favorite is Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra. I've also used Motorcraft, Valvoline, Mobil 1 and Mobil 5000. All good oils - I think it all comes down to personal preference and maybe price or sales.

What have you been using up till now?

Both 5w30 and 5w20 will work, however 20wts are generally more shear resistant, so your 5w30 motorcraft will shear to a 20 wt after a couple thousand miles anyways. And generally 20wts are made of a little better stock, from my understanding, not always, but generally. I vote 5w20 motorcraft or Mobil super, my modular fords love mobil super 5w20.

Here's an out of box recommendation , M1 afe 0w30. Good cold flow properties and excellent high temp protection. Or use 0w20 afe if your feeling a bit daring .

I am the original owner of my truck. When I use to work I would let Ford change my oil(MC 5W20).Then,just recently,I became disabled. My last oil change was done by a local tire store with conventional 5W20 Valvoline. Money is very tight so I need to use something that will last at least 5K-7.5K miles and not form sludge. I have family and friends that will change it for me so all I will be paying for is the oil and filter.Any recommendations?

Mobil 5000 should be a good fit here. It should be able to pull off a 5k OCI of highway miles just fine and it's fairly cheap at walmart. Without a UOA to be sure, I'd stick closer to 5k OCI just to be safe. Now if you're wanting to go farther, then something like Mobil 1 or PP would be more fitting I think.

I was kind of leaning towards that brand or Pennzoil conventional. If the extra few dollars are in the budget I will go with MC,changing at 7500 OCIs.Conventional,5K miles.O'Reillys has there brand for $2.99 a qt,which should be good for 5K miles,I think.
