Recommendations on standby generators

I’m happy with our standby 16kw Generac, but wish I would’ve looked at other options too. Either Kohler or Onan/ Cummins.

I think Generac has the best support here though. While I am not a huge fan of the dealer I used, there’s a larger one locally that can do service as well.

I have no complaints about the sound and it’s right outside our bedroom. The noise level is load dependent though too. I can see it powering an outdoor AC unit being annoying I suppose.

Generac would be my choice but they are loud.
If possible a diesel generator would be more suitable for generating power

My choice would be Kohler over Generac. Build quality is a lot better on the Kohler units.

Generac and Briggs standby generators (liquid cooled anyways) are made in Wisconsin last I checked. Something like 10 miles from each other. Either would be a great choice. Get installers to come out and bid on your project and let you know what they think you need. You're not only buying the generator, but the installer too.
