Looking to add aftermarket CC to a '92 S10 4.3L automatic (with TV cable), can anyone make a recommendation based on their experiences?

I see a lots of Rostra kits out there, they any good?

No idea about aftermarket, but could you rip out the PCM and all the other necessary components from a junkyard vehicle?

I had a Rosta aftermarket installed on a 2003 KIA Rio 3 years ago and it works very well. Cost installed was $350.00.

I also have had installed on an older Escort 2001, an Audiovox Cruise Control and it also works very well. The Audiovox is available on E-Bay for around $100.00 and easy to install yourself.

If you want an aftermarket cruise get it soon as I'm lead to believe they are both discounted products.

I used an audiovox vacuum from JC whitney. It worked but was interesting to install. They have a cheezy switch but you can wire it up to ordinary switches (or even a factory cruise switch if it isn't over complex) too if you want.

I installed a JC Whitney CC 30 years ago on my 240Z. It still works today, tho it isnt used much. The instruction manual said it was made by Dana Corp. It was fairly straight forward to intall, vacuum actuator, brake switch, ON-OFF-SET switch and controller.

I put a Audiovox in the Ranger. Works good on flat stretches. On the hills it takes a few tries before it resumes the correct speed. Probably would work better with something with more power though.

You may need a vaccum canister, can be very easily made with a piece of 1 1/2 to 2 inch plastic pipe and 2 end caps. Plus an inlet and outlet for the vaccuum hoses.

It has a good sized vacuum canister from the factory but does need a secondary. Never thought of using a plastic pipe interesting.

The Rostra electronic units work quite well and are very easy to fine tune via a series of DIP switch settings.

I installed a Rostra cruise on my Dakota nearly 4 years ago. It has worked perfectly ever since. Not a single problem with it. It holds speed whether on a flat road or up/down hills and the resume feature also works very well.

I paid $200 for mine and installed it myself. It was not hard at all to do. I got it from a truck accessories store.
