Anything written by Richard Feynman.
"Failure Is Not An Option" about Apollo 13.
There are some good books about the discovery of the periodic table, but it's been too long ago. Fascinating work though.
"Teach Your Child How to Think" by Edward de Bono.
"October Sky" by Homer Hickam, Jr.
Anything written by Jon Krakauer.

Fiction:
Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Dave Barry, Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes).
"French for Cats" by Henri de la Barbe.

Hi:
I think I mentioned this earlier but there is an e-mail source called book bub that sends lists of free or nearly free e-books (all kinds) that you can store in the cloud after getting them from Amazon free or 99 cents.

I enjoyed reading all of the books authored by Homer Hickam Jr. My son and I also met him at a book signing; he is a great guy.
