Recommend me a foam gun!

Can you recommend me a foam gun/cannon?

I have seen quite a few different ones from Chemical Guys and ones listed on autogeek...Do you guys use these? Do you prefer one over the other for any reason?

I have been looking at these for a little while now, and with Christmas right around the corner I figure I will throw it on my list!

I was looking into one of these early this year and after much research the consensus seemed to be they're not worth it and don't represent any advantage over 2 bucket method washing. You might be better off getting something different in it's place for Christmas. I'll look for a couple of the sites I read tonight and post if I can find them.

Save your money, they aren't gonna clean your car any better than just hosing down the car prior to washing

I thought my Gilmour was pretty good. I too have moved to a rinseless wash most of the time so I don't use it much anymore. During the winter I use it to clean the undercarriage with Salt Away, but other than that its not really necessary.

I think its helpful with a heavily soiled car to be able to use the foam gun to knock off the big chunks followed by a more conventional wash. But in those cases its probably cheaper to drop by the coin-operated car wash to do that and then drive home to start a more conventional wash.

If you happen to have a pressure washer, you can get a foam wand cheap to do the same thing. Why not?

Those hose attached wands are not better than any other "foamers" Real foamers need to be attached to a pressure washers to get that ultra fine cling to your car foam.

If you just want a way to easily apply car wash to allow a good hands free presoak, what I use is simply a weed sprayer. The spray washes away the big stuff and it's not really the foaming that does the cleaning it's the soap so a presoak with wash mix vs foam makes little difference anyways. It just looks nice. But using the weed sprayer with soap allows me to just use a microfiber wash mitten and gets rid of the bucket completely.

About $10 and adjustable for soap concentration. Works great, just doesn't "foam" as much. It sprays in a fan pattern so it works really well for washing your car and simultaneously saving water compared to just using a hose. Washing my car I probably use less water than taking a shower. I've never had a problem with it.

I have a Mecline foam lance hooked to my pressure washer, sprays thick foam and looks like shaving cream on the car. I love it. Excellent for a good presoak.
