Recommend Fuel pump

Howdy and Good Morning Fellow Bitogers!

A question. Since I will be replacing the fuel pump on "Thunder the Wonder Pig" this Saturday, (1995 Olds Cutlass, 3.1 V-6), I got to wondering which would be the best pump I could use. I checked the Advanced Auto website and did a search and found both a wide range of choices and prices. I was leaning toward the "Bosch" pump but reading the reviews revealed several that stopped working after only a few months.

Naturally, I don't want to throw a ton of money at Thunder the Wonder Pig, but at the same time, don't want to drop the fuel tank, replace the pump only to repeat this operation again in the near future.

Therefore, what I would like to know is, what is the best pump I can put in my car, (or perhaps, what pumps should I stay away from).

Oem. Or equivalent.
Bosch makes a decent product,I wound use that if it was cost effective.
When a manufacturer makes millions of units some of those units will be defective. Don't judge on a small percentage or 1 bad review. How many millions have been sold and are in use where the buyer didn't post a glowing review.
You'll only read about the defects on the internet,no one posts about how great a product was unless they are a paid contributor

Check RockAuto for a OEM AcDelco/GM fuel pump assembly.
Don't just replace the pump itself, and make sure to pick up a fresh filter. Make sure to check retailmenot for a coupon code

If you like filling your time with nothing but dropping fuel tanks and replacing fuel pumps, then I strongly recommend getting an Airtex pump.

But if you're a "One and done" kind of repairer, get an OEM.

I used to have a 95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL with the 3.4L that I inherited because it didn't run. The problem with that one was the fuel pump wasn't seated correctly in the tank so when it got below 1/2 tank it would die. I dropped the fuel tank and found this and saw the pump someone had previously put in there was stamped "Ford"! After seating the pump correctly in the pickup tube it worked great for a few years until some jerk totaled it while it was parked out on the street in front of the house I was living in at the time

So, I'd recommend the Ford pump because it ran fine with it!

I thought I'd be funny and check to see what a 1995 Ferrari 348 would take for a fuel pump on Rockauto. It came back with an AC Delco variant for $84(D1876D).

AC Delco or Delphi. Look around for deals. Also replace the fuel filter and check the wire harness for connection quality/voltage drop. This will ensure you don't need to do it again.

Usually that only works if the car came with a Denso, or if you could swap just the pump and not the whole module.

Delphi/ACDelco is typically the best pump in your case.

AC Delco is $69 on rockauto. Looks like the cheap ones are $30. As someone who is inherently cheap....yet has dropped a gas tank before, I vote for the ac Delco.

Thanks for the heads up as that was the only one they had in stock for 72 greenbacks.

I ordered the "Bosch" which will be here next Wednesday which means it's one more trip to "O" town and back on what I believe is a failing pump. Let us all cross our fingers in a cooperate way so said fuel pump "feels the love."

From where? The one I got off Amazon was over $100 cheaper than AZ or AAP.
