Today I almost had to break into a truck that's here for service. Long story but doors were either locked or handles inop.

I have one of the airbags you pump up with a handheld bulb, and those are pretty cool.

But I'm lacking small diameter, rigid rods you could then slip in and bump pdl switches, pull on interior handles, or pull up on door lock rods. Yes, I could try to cobble something together but it would be nice and save time to have a selection of tools ready to go for this.

If anyone has links or recommendations I'd love to hear them. I'll mostly be "breaking in" to older junk ‐‐ if it's a nice, newer vehicle I'm not prying on doors etc

Please spare me any morality or legality warnings. I'm not planning to break the law -- that's just not who I am. If I damage something, that's between me and the vehicle owner.

I looked this up once and they are readily available on amazon, "car lockout kit" is what you want to search for. No idea on a professional set, but it includes rods and pump up devices.

They sell a bunch of different "jimmy" tools on Amazon.

Yeah, I figured they're readily available but was thinking some members might have experience on "you really want this" or "don't bother with this" or "this set is comprehensive and inexpensive."

That said, I guess I can just read Amazon reviews and go from there.

What can't you do with a prybar wrapped in tape, a wedge, and a 3-foot long piece of 1/8" wire?

Yea, but asking for advice on breaking into vehicles is generally frowned upon by Bob. If I posted this, it would have been locked by now if not deleted.
I've bought cars at auction many times, and so do you. 👻
100% of the time I go the locksmith route, usually he is closeby right after.

I'd call a local locksmith and see what they recommend.

I know a shop that make a couple of tools from steel brake line. Using the tiny air bag to open the door a little and then the brake line tool to push the unlock button. (From memory a few years ago).

It is not illegal to gain access into a locked car for valid, legal reasons (such as being inadvertently locked out by accident). It is only illegal if the intent is to steal or vandalize the car, etc.

When I worked road duty, every squad car had an access tool-kit (like the Amazon one) issued to every vehicle we had. We had waivers for the owner/driver to sign before we'd gain entry for them.

If anyone is concerned I encourage you to call CBI (Colo Bureau of Investigation). Dnewton can give them my ISP and they can track me down in about 3 seconds.

Be sure to mention that a criminal mastermind has announced his intent to break into cars on his property brought to him by the legal owners for the purpose of repairs being conducted on the vehicles in question. Also, please record this conversation and post an audio file.
