...and noticed some sediment in the bottom of one (leaking) bottle which appears grayish-black, like graphite. Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm really not too worried about it at all because the stuff is really, really soft just like graphite and has pretty well settled in the container from which I removed it (and placed in an old FP60 bottle I had lying around). It is atypical though. I've had leakers in the past so I'm not too concerned about that either. Amount lost was de minimis.

I also see they use nearly-opaque containers now; I kinda liked the translucent ones 'cause it was so easy to see how much I had left...

My FP60 should up yesterday. Which I use in my PSD and it was normal looking. Since they quit making FP60 Plus for diesels. I really don't know of the Plus and Regular look the same.

I use it mainly for its lubricity- any MPG gain would probably not be noticed in my 40 MPG Civic. OTOH, if I tracked the fuel usage in my '77 Chev P/U with a 454 I might see something but feeding the ol' girl hurts no matter what!

I have used FP60 and FP Plus in the past as well and am a big fan of both products. FP Plus is my second favorite fuel additive.

I am now using MMO in my gas and have been for over a year, but still using LC20 in my oil as prescribed.

The reason I switched to MMO in the gas is while FP plus/60 are just as good (arguably better) cleaners and lubricants than MMO, they just do not seem to add the ooommmppphh while driving and the quicker starting that MMO provides.

I do not know why the MMO has that effect as it is really a pretty basic formula, but it is hard to go back once you are used to it.

Hmmm... I wonder if LCD had some sort of equipment failure, I grabbed one of my neodymium-iron-boron magnets and the stuff is definitely ferrous but nonetheless extremely fine.

Methinks I'll filter the substance in the two jugs I recently got.

I've always noticed a milky substance that settles to the bottom after sitting. LC20, FP60 and FP Plus all do it. A good shake mixes it right up, but I've been curious about what it is. Hopefully not part of the bottle.

I just went and looked at my gallon of FP Plus that has been sitting in the garage for a few months, I noticed a white substance on the bottom of the bottle as well. I blamed it on the cold weather since it disappeared after shaking the bottle a few times.

I had some sediment in a jug of FP60 a couple of years ago. They told me it was just dye. I believe they changed the dye formula after that (the old stuff seemed redder to me). I don't think it affected performance in any way.

But i don't think it is what you experienced. Sounds more like what Rob Roy reports. Although mine seemed darker, it could have just been the effect of the colour in the FP60. It also seemed soluble rather than ferrous particles. A quick shake and it was gone.

IIRC I had a similar experience with FP60 when I used the stuff, I just shook it up and all was fine. FP60 always looked somewhat cloudy to me anyway.

The ferrous dust in the 'Plus has me concerned, though. I did filter one of my two gallons through some coffee filters and re-jugged it. I really wonder if the second gallon has the same FeDust...

Ferrous dust...wonderful...exactly what I hope to see in my FP+...NOT!

If I find some in my container, I will make very loud complaint!

I'd hate to pay that kind of $$$ and have to filter the stuff before I use it. Could it have been an isolated instance? I've read only good things about the product.

How are you guys seeing any residue in the bottom of the jug? My FP+ is in a white plastic jug (non see through). Are your FP+ jugs clear?

I poured my FP+ from the near-opaque jug to an empty earlier FP3000 near-transparent jug, though IIRC it was when I filled up the 12-oz. bottle I carry in my Civic that I noticed the FeDust in the bottom.

Yes, I do believe- and most certainly HOPE- the incident is isolated.

Not the best way to re-sleeve your engine

I've been using fp/fp+ for about 5 years now. Only issue that I have is that I tend to buy in bulk, and it takes me a year plus before I reorder. I notice that I loose about 5% of the product. The sides of the container suck in. I have been told that some of the product "migrates" thu the plastic, causing the "sucked in" containers. My question is, is it really worth stocking up, if your going to loose some of the product before use?
