Reason a society doesn't allow 13/14 yo girls to mingle with 18 yo boys

These relationships happen all the time and everywhere.

Go to a Senior Prom and see how many upperclassman date the younger crowd. If you have your way we might as well segragate our high schools by age next.

**The only difference is that other guys are not murderous bastardds like this case example.

As noted earlier in the cross country comparison, age of consent is a murky thing.

13 and 14 is indeed ridicoulously young .. the grey area is when zeoulot DA's prosecute 18-19-20 for 16-17 relations and so on.

Whereas the rest of the world such an arrangement is okay. She is a woman as far as they are concerned.

The easiest solution is not age laws but parental consent. If the parents order no contact that is case closed for me.

This is not a Romeo & Juliet case, this is a kidnapper and murderer.

I also concur with the other poster, if you raise your kids right and dare I say install the fear of *** and retribution in them they will never touch drugs, scuffle with the law or pop out any puppies at a young age.

My parents slapped me around, and you know what it worked. I did not end up a junkey or hoodlum.

Again that is my nieve youthful opinions....perhaps if I ever breed and turn into a dad my opinions will change.

Yup, thats why I said take it with a grain of salt. Taikwando or Kung Fu, the bigger risk is the girls drunk driving, DUI, or voluntarily doing stupid things, than getting hurt by bad guys. It is statistically proven; car accidents and suicides kill more teenagers than any other causes.

Pandabear,
stats in Oz are that 1 in 6 to one in 4 girls will be raped during their lifetime.

Not killed anough to become a statistic, and in many cases, it's explained away by the Police during the interview.

They nabbed this weasel A$$ twerp about 3 miles from my office. It was around lunch time, so a few of us rolled down there to see if they were allowing pot-shots, or maybe just a couple fists to the gut? I told the Troopers there was a good hanging tree about 8 miles away in Danville, IN. But later agreed with the officers that it would be much better to let Bubba in The Joint teach this kid, I mean adult, a thing or two. Just wait until he drops the soap!!!

Hopefully there will be no plea agreement, and this alleged criminal does a good 80 years with no time off and no chance for parole.

Wasn't there an infamous case ..way back ..where a guy killed the family and talked the girl into going with him? She got thrown in prison too. She claimed that he had already killed her family and hidden the bodies ..and told her that if she didn't go with him ..that he would kill them. No one believed her. I don't think that she ever changed her story. A&E shows it from time to time, and I'm sure there was a movie made from it.

you guys are stressing my out. Mine is 13. Geez I have a hard time keeping her away from Freshman (14-15?)

Anyhow. I stay mucho on top of it. If anything makes me old, this stage will.

I have two daughters, and freely mention that one of my favorite quotes is from the movie Clueless;

"If anything happens to my daughter, I've got a .45 and a shovel. I doubt anybody would miss you."

:^)

You should come to Japan 40 year old men, 25 year old women, There's a bunch of perverts here.

Also, I would have to agree with the raise them right, and it shouldn't be too much of a problem. My parents never kept me from doing anything unless they had a good reason to object to it. In return I promised that I would call at anytime if I was in a place I didn't want to be. In 6th grade they got their first phone call, and there hasn't really been a problem since.

I'm not going to worry too much about girls ages 6yrs and 11yrs. Oldest is from a prior relationship and her mother is a good mother who teaches good values. My youngest on the other hand has a mouth that will put grown men in their place. She will whine so much she will drive them off. LOL! If something were to happen to either one of my daughters, my wife would take matters into her own hands. The guy who happens to do the bad deed better run for his life! Wife gets mad, she gets crazy mad! Wife is rated an Expert with a Glock Pistol. I really think she gets her temper from her ethnic background - Apache Indian and German. Believe me, I've been at the end of it. Not nice. She's a great mother and wife. See her coming, you better run!

In my opinion, the 14-year-old daughter was probably in on what the 18-year-old boyfriend did. Something in the posed pictures of her that the news channels have shown gives me the creeps. It's the look in her eyes or something. . . .

Some years ago there was a similar case in Virginia, except that the boy was 15, not 18. The 14-year-old was involved with her parents' murder, and she and the boy ran off together. The end result was that they were captured, he was tried as anadult and got the death penalty (and has been executed) and she was locked up as a juvenile until age 21.

The Supreme Court ruling prohibiting people from being executed for crimes committed as a minor (under 18) came later. The disparity in sentencing for the two in Virginia given the difference in age of only one year did bother a number of people, especially with evidence of the daughter's complicity.

I suspect that in the Pennsylvania case that this thread is about, she will turn out to have known what the boyfriend was going to do and voluntarily ran off with him.

One other note: she and the boy were both home schooled, and they met through home schooling/church group meetings. Just because you pull your kids out of public schools doesn't mean that this will make a difference, though it usually helps.

Well, you do understand that the creep producer that chose the shots of her ..only chose the shots that added that potential "look" to her, don't you? She's guilty already. I liked how one paper made a local politician, that they didn't endorse, have that "sick pervert mad man smile on his face" in every article with him in it. He didn't look anything like that in real life. They just got the right angle and expression ..and ran it every time.

Either way, it was such an "unreal" event that I don't think any 14 year old would have any strong will to resist the wishes of this kid. You get strange and strong emotions coming into play that removes them from rational thought processes. Fear, anxiety, and not knowing what to do - goes a long way here. I mean, what would she be expected to do ..and how would you expect her to do it?

What can and will (probably) be labelled as "accomplice" could very well be a "did nothing and let the situation dictate her actions (or non-actions)" for lack of coping skills.

Unfortunately we're not going to be able to view this as a 14 year old ..and are always going to lay an adult template overlay on what happened. Now surely the kid who did the shooting is forever "damaged goods" and is never going to have a life out from behind bars ..but the girl ..who knows what she went through in this ordeal

I don't agree with the social mandate that "doing the right thing" requires the individual to suffer ..or at least the assesment of penalty for it. That is, "you chose to do this illegal act!" ..but the alternative was being killed ..."Too bad, you still broke the law! You willfully chose to live and break the law!! You could have done the right thing and died!" type thing. That is, punishment for being of sound rational, and otherwise law abiding, human nature
