Depends on what the investigation finds.

Out of pocket - well, Uncle Sam takes care of the expense.

But for the crew? The Squadron Commander? Others involved in the flight?

Depending on what is discovered, the career consequences could be severe.

Me? No. Came close - considered it - but managed to regain control of the airplane.
