rear noise when stabbing the brakes

I am going to have trouble describing this so bear with me.
My 05 civic when backing up slow out of a parking space and you stab the brakes like to adjust the rear shoes it makes a weird noise does the same thing going forward slow and then stabbing the brakes. The noise is a grreerrt sound but not a squeaky noise . Hard to explain..... its loud enough to easily hear in the car as well.......... any idea suggestions????

have you checked to see if the "wear tabs" on the pads are rubbing finally?

Not sure if civics of those years have the tabs or not.

I've never experienced tabs on a drum. I know front pads squeak this isn't a squeak however I did pull the drums.....not sure when your suppose to replace them but the had pad still on them.

Lube the adjusters and the backing plates where the shoes contact. Use a q-tip and you don't have to disassemble the brake.

I know there is a audible clicking noise for backing up then going forward and pressing the brakes, honda had a tsb and said it was the brakes adjusting themselves which is normal operation. But gerreet sounds like the rotors are wet or theres no friction material

It's common to have drum brakes make noise like that when backing. Especially when the car hasn't been driven and there is moisture in the air. Keep in mind that drum brakes were not designed to brake in reverse. There is a leading shoe and trailing shoe for a reason. I wouldn't worry at all about it.
