I need to change the oil, but the OLM has not lit up yet.

It is the old style OLM that does not indicate % oil life remaining. Only the "Oil Change" light comes on when needed.

Although the computer thinks the oil is good, I need to change it out due to the factor of the time the oil has been in the crankcase.

If I follow the normal OLM reset procedure, will it reset the OLM even though the "Oil Change" light has not come on?

I plan on using Pennzoil Platinum 5-30 (with $5 instant rebate) and ACDelco filter.

Your thoughts...

Correct. Oil change soon message will blink in the message display on the Silverado (left side of dash) No light just the message.

This same OLM procedure works on every vehicle we have with an OLM, even non-GM vehicles.

Turn on ignition, push gas pedal to the floor 3 times, OLM flashes once, you're done.
