Ravenol HCS 5w40

What are peoples opinions on this oil? It’s got a few approvals but older ones and the poor point is “only” -42 degrees c, could this be due to the HTHS of 4.1?

What engine? I don’t see a reason to use HCS over VST if you’re after a full SAPS 5w-40. It’s an older product and one of their lower end products.

Just looking at oil for the next oil change on the 3.0 TDV6 in my Discovery (LR4 USA)

It has no DPF to worry about And EGR valves have been removed.

It looks like the HCS oil is being discontinued so on offer. I don’t find a 5w40 VST on the UK website.

Try VMP then. It has VW 507. It’s a 30 but has HTHS of 3.7.

Save yourself some money and get Fuchs Titan GT1 Flex 3 5w40 for nearly half the cost with the same and better approvals. I just picked up 15 litres for £85.
