Ram/Stellantis to announce 10 year/100.000 mile powertrain warranty for 2026 model year.

And of course, they’ll do everything thing they can to deny warranty especially if emissions problems arise along with cam and lifter failures.
The cam/lifter issue was supposedly fixed in 2018, not that this stops people from bringing it up and forgetting that Ford and GM both have the same problem, and GM's isn't fixed (not sure about Ford).

My dad financed his new GC because he got it at 0% for 84 months (and I got him dealer cost on the vehicle). It's basically free money and he's paying it off using investment income, rather than dipping into his savings to buy it outright, which would remove that cash from his investment portfolio, reducing his investment cashflow.

This is the same method my friend that owns the dealership employs when they have a 0% thing going on. Why dip into his cash, which makes him money, because it's invested, when Chrysler will give him the money for free and he can pay on it using cashflow from the investments without penalty?

When we purchased my wife's car (10 years ago now), we got 0.9% financing. The finance manager laughed at me when I handed him a down payment check..."leave that money into your bank account where it will make more than 0.9%"

Unfortunately I haven't seen APR that low since then, we are currently looking for a replacement for that 10 year old car, best Lexus is giving out is 3.9%. My local credit union is at 4.9%.

I got 48 months at 0% interest on my last car purchase. Also got the car below MSRP. That was 2 years ago.

Yes I've heard the same, at least on the 5.7. There's a guy on YT (Truck Central IIRC) who owns a '19 1500, he posted a short recently that the truck was at 288k miles! No lifter issues at all, but is on 2nd set of manifolds and needing the third. His is also non E-torque. Only one example, but pretty cool nonetheless.

To each their own.

The only reason not to do above is risk which is a factor to consider. Also you will spend far more on new vehicle and can end up with a high depreciation new car Jeep Grand Wagoneer with absolute trash resale and accident and end up upside down easily with 84 month terms.

Not against it however people forget risk.

You only spending far more if you are paying interest though, hence the argument for this process with 0%.

It was weighed, hence the powertrain selection with this vehicle (5.7L backed by the ZF 8HP). They owned their previous Expedition for 24 years, and my dad's second car is a 2003 Town Car.

If RAM-Stellantis walked on water, people here would then accuse them of failing to swim.

Now, a more generous warranty is a bad thing? Seriously?

Sounds like great marketing to me.
The question is how is Stellantis paying for this new warranty?

Is the warranty booked as a liability and accounted for? Is the warranty insured but an independent carrier in case Stellantis goes bankrupt? Is Stellantis setting aside reserves for the warranty claims? Or will Stellantis promise everything to sell a vehicle today, but no real viable plan to make sure they are able to financial cover the liability of the warranty.

My home has a 25-year warranty on its solar. The company went out of business three years into the warranty. So, no warranty for thousands of homeowners including myself.

Or is Stellantis just promising the moon and stars and as Bon Jovi sung "living on a prayer":

Oh, we've gotta hold on, ready or not
You live for the fight when that's all that you've got

Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer

I just checked the Chevy 2500HD vs RAM 2500. You can get an equivalent Chevy for about $13K-21K less. That buys a lot of maintenance and repairs.
When I bought my 3500 Tradesman a few months ago, the GM's were about 5% more than the Rams for comparable gas trucks. That was if I was willing to go to Texas or Maryland to get the truck.

As for reliability, it's a toss-up between the Big Three. I felt most comfortable with the Ram mechanically.

2025 Chevrolet 2500HD LT Crew Cab, $51K after current incentives.
Are you looking at diesel Rams? I’m on the website of the dealership where I bought mine. They have low 50’s asking prices on several 2500 4x4 CC gas trucks with Big Horn packages. OTD will be even lower.

Comparable Chevies are about the same price ATM.

Nope. 6.4L gas for the RAM and 6.6L gas for the Chevy. The Chevys are simply cheaper in my area. I have a feeling the RAM dealer is just gouging because their lot has been filled to the gills for months now with very little movement of inventory.

Members were commenting on the limitations of the "more generous" warranty and suspicion of Stellantis dealerships.
Yes, I understand their snark. Its pretty common here regarding Stellantis.

Had Stellantis reduced their warranty, people would bash them.
If they kept it the same, people will bash them.
If they extend their warranty, people bash them.

If any of the others mfg's extended their warranty, it would be the greatest thing ever. Would never be questioned.
