Hi guys

I own a 2005 Scion tC and while checking my engine, I saw that one of my radiator fans has come off its hub. It isn't the a/c condensor fan because when I turn on the a/c the one that is still attached still spins.

Would my best approach to be just replace the entire shroud and fan? It isn't causing me any issues right now. I'm just worried that in the summer time it might start to overheat.

I've also never done any radiator work in my car before so it seems a little intimidating.

Tips?

My father has a car where one fan spins and the other is coupled by a belt. Are they both autonomous fans, or are they coupled like that?

Those fans are usually not held in with much. If you can find and remove visible fasteners on top, the bottom may just have tabs that slide into slots and you can lift the whole thing out.

They definately aren't tied together by a belt or anything. I'm going to take a look and see if I can just remove some nuts and take out the entire shroud with the fans in it. I hope it's just something minor.

Oh man... This replacement is so easy.... except I tried for about 20 minutes and I couldn't get the freaking CLIPS off for the sensor/motor.

I didn't want to break them. Going to wait until the weather is a little warmer. Any ideas on how to break them loose? Or am I just an idiot.

Being a toyota product they probably have a latch of some sort or maybe a push button that will release them. Service manual?
