I assume he means for when, or if, R134 is no longer available.
Supposedly R134a is going to continue to be manufactured indefinitely to service existing vehicles, it just won't be used in new vehicles. But who knows if/when that could change, R134a may become the new R12 eventually. I bought a case of R134a from Walmart for $4.88 a can about year ago just in case, I'm not expecting it to get any cheaper than that any time soon. And with 3 cars that use R134a and no intentions of ever owning anything new enough to use R1234yf, it's not like I won't use it eventually.

Land Rover was using R1234yf in 2014 for Range Rover and Sport. All VAG cars are using it now. Certainly in the UK anyway. (A few Audi got R744 but so few only a handful of UK dealers have the machine)

My fiancé's 2017 F150 uses R1234yf. It's going to the dealer tomorrow to get the AC fixed since it looks like the AC clutch gave out at 33,000 miles.

Several years ago I bought two 30 lb tanks of R134 and am still using the remainder of another tank I bought so I should be good for quite a while. Most everything else we own uses it.
