I recently switched my truck over to Mobil 1 High Mileage. I'm very happy so far. I told my dad about it, And he decided to switch his 1993 Dodge Dakota over to it as well. However, Being kind of a tightwad, He had 2 qts of Valvoline Maxlife left from a case he bought a few changes ago. So basically he has 2qts of Maxlife and 2qts of Mobil 1 High Mileage in his engine. He isn't the the type to extend drains, So it will be changed a 3000. Is there any problem with this mix?

It won't hurt a thing. People mix oil all the time around here. I just dumped 3 quarts of John Deere 15W40 and a quart of TropArctic 10W40 into my '94 Corsica.

In a mix as you described, it is difficult to predict what the additive performance will be. The base oils, of course, are compatible.

But, rest assured, in a 1993 Dakota, with a short, 3K OCI, no one will notice the difference!
