I changed oil in my 02 Dodge cummins a few nights ago. Went with Schaeffer's Supreme 7000 and added 12oz. of Lube Control's LC-20 with it. I've got about 85,000 miles on the truck, and its never had much blowby coming out of the breather tube. Anyways, my question is, if I let the truck sit and idle a few minutes with the heat on, I can smell the LC-20. I can catch a whiff of it outside the truck too, but its not as strong there. I didn't spill any when I dumped it in, and I keep the jug of it in my toolbox in the bed. None of it has spilled out either. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just kinda like the deal with guy's complaining about the smell of Rotella T when they change oil? I emailed LubeControl about it, and they said they've never had anyone complain about smelling it in the cab.

Used Lc20 along with other stuff and never heard this. Do you have a leak somewhere?

I myself have used LC20 for a few yrs, and have never smelled the LC20 and I even have the CCV mod where the engine vent gases are exiting out the back of the truck. Next oil change only add 8oz. or 6oz. then add 1oz every 1k miles. See if that cuts the smell down. Just an idea.

My truck holds 14qts--> I only add 8oz. and 2oz every 1k miles.

At the start of every winter, I'll add 12oz of Auto-Rx.
It's nice to have a diesel truck with 265K miles,that don't leak.
Thanks Frank.

I have a very slight leak at the rear of my oil pan, but its just damp around there, its not like its running out. It doesn't even leave a spot on the ground when I park it over night. I don't smell it when its sitting there parked, only when I have it running.

I got to thinking last night, but its probably a long shot. My past couple oil changes, I noticed my compressor housing on my turbo starting to get a slight film of oil in it. I run a open element air filter (BHAF for those who know what that is). I thought, maybe at idle, since my air filter is right there at the cowl, maybe I'm getting fumes from that oil in my turbo out through the airfilter and drawn in through the cowl vents. I know, I know, its a long shot:)

On a side note, I filled up today and added their Fuel Power additive, and spilled some on my jacket. I had to drive the whole way home with my window down cause the fumes were getting to me. Thats some wicked smelling stuff!

Well, now that I have about 300miles on my truck since I change the oil, I don't smell the LC20 anymore. I even took the fill cap off after I got home and stuck my nose up to the valve cover and couldn't even smell it then. Weird.
