Question to those who have large oil stashes

I used the buy 3 get 3 coupon at Pep Boys for the M1 and bought 10 cases. I figured the 60 quarts was somewhere around $170. 16 Quarts at the Autozone $2 Maxlife Syn/Havoline Syn, add $32. So 76 quarts for about $200. I use all of the oil on the 6 cars that I change oil on...so my stash depletes at a good rate.

Probably less than $50 and I see my psycholgist every two weeks.

Well,

Approx 100 quarts of Pennzoil (5w30 and 10w30) @69 cents a quart=$70

Approx 50 quarts of Chevron (5w30 and 10w30) @.49 cents a quart=$25

25 quarts of Castrol 5w30 Syntec @ $3 quart=$75

50 quarts of Castrol 5w30 Syntec Blend @ $2 =$100

24 quarts of Castrol 5w30 GTX @ .89 =$22

30 Quarts of Mobil 7500 (5w30) @ $2 =$60

36 Quarts of QS (5w30 and 10w30) @ .49 =$18

So, 315 quarts at a grand total of $370. If I average the price per quart it jumps up to $1.17 per quart..

So, equal to about 12 oil changes at crappy lube...

Just went out and looks like I'm pretty close with the above numbers in the stash.

Well, I have 95 qts. of GC, about $500 worth. I've probably wasted that on booze some nights in my younger days. And, your point is?

Just under $120 for over 100 qts.
26 qts of GC @ $3.99/each (+ tax) + 4 "free"
wink.gif
(exchanged 10 qts "free" Mobil 5000 for some gold GC)
12 qts Mobil 1 0w-30, $10 (may be returning to Pep Boys for store credit)
30 qts Max Life, Free (some of the rebates were for more than I paid, so postage was paid for)
20 qts DuraBlend, Free (same a MaxLife deal)
4 qts Havoline Syn, Free
5 qts Mobil 5000, Free
2 qts Pro Line, Free from dad
1 qt Super Tech 15w40 $.10
4 Valvoline All Climate, $.79/qt (leftover from my pre BITOG days)

I have actualy made some money off oil I have returned to Wal Mart and Target.

Not quite current pic of my oil:

And add:
5 OEM Hyundai oil filters, free
2 Bosch oil filters, free after rebate
4 Puralator Premium oil filters, $1.50. each after rebate.

I guess I need to update my pic.

Blupumper,

I have 103 quarts, but I keep them in boxes so they don't get all dusty sitting in my garage.

6 TropArtic Syn Blend
10 Havoline dino
42 Havoline Synthetic
45 Mobil 1

Blue Pooper: Those shelves are sagging and creating a safety hazard. Is your fire extinguisher fully charged? I also see an Avon box. Kindly explain yourself.

LT4 Vette,
My garage does not really get dusty, so not a problem. That and I pull my oil off the shelf and fondle them... umm, err, I mean re-arrange them and clean them off every so often.

yea, thats it...

Tosh,
Yes, I know my shelves are sagging. I got some wood the other day, just have not cut it yet. Yes, the extinguisher is charged. Kinda pointless if it is not.

And for the Avon boxes, well, you know, it just makes me feel pretty.

Seriously though, the wife used to sell Avon, have a bunch of the boxes and tops laying around.

I don't have a big stash, just 6 quarts of Redline (when Advance was clearing it out) for my bike and a few cases of M1 0w30 & 0w-40 that I picked up at AZ when they cleared it out.

I would really like to stock up some more, but I really can't justify it. I have enough oil to last me 2 years on my bike and 3 years for my pickup.

Overall I think I have over $200 worth of oil with less than $100 invested.

I also have 7 years worth of filters left for my motorcycle. I picked up a case at less than half price a couple of years ago. So, that would be about $63 in filters with about $30 invested.

I have maybe 12 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 that I got for $15 a jug. I am just now running out of the Tri Synthetic and getting to the Super Synthetic. I will never stock up like that again, I run 10,000 mile OCIs and the oils are improved so often that I am locked out of the new stuff. I will not be able to go to Mobil 1 EP for 4 or 5 years. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

Yeah, tidy up and move the pantyhose cases so we don't have to share in the view of the "other stash".

12 litres of Magnatec SP $100(Oz)
7 litres M1 0W-40 $100 (Oz)
3 litres Castrol 0W-40 $40 (Oz)
1 litre M1 gear lube $10 (Oz)
10 litre Valvoline Engine Aromour 15w40 $30 (Oz)
2 litre Pennzoil HD30 $8 (Oz)
2 litre Castrol GTX Magnatec 10W-40 $6 (Oz)

37 litres for $296

I can't beleive that you guys even bother with extended drains when the "budget price" for Valvoline XLD 20W-50 down here is $1.50/litre.
