Question on startup

Here it is--I know that on this forum many people say that you can't tell the difference in how your car runs by the oil you use but I beg to differ. My wife's Corolla definetly has less clatter on startup since I started useing Quaker State Ultimate Durability rather than the M1 previous. CATERHAM had said in another post that M1 was light. What is the difference between Quaker State Ultimate Durability and M1 if any? Why would the car be quieter on startup with Quaker State Ultimate Durability or is it just happenstance? I like M1 and have used it in other vehicles so I'm not a Mobil hater.

there is a such thing as a butt dino regardless of what is said on here. ive found nothing that quiets like the sm formula castrol edge 5w20 in the gold bottle, im referencing ford/mazda 2008 2.3 l engines. wish i could help you out w the Quaker State Ultimate Durability question, im not a sopus user

I cant really answer your question re; that chatter. But what I do know is the only MB-1 oil that ran nicely in my 05, and the 01 RX I had is the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30. Oh, and the 5w30 extended performance.

Yea! Heck! Maybe other oils would have been the same. Anyway I'll just keep using the Quaker State Ultimate Durability since Im happy with it and can't hardly beat the price. I should try the M1 again and see if the clatter comes back. Thanks

Quaker State Ultimate Durability is a group 3 syn correct? And regular m1 is still a 4 iirc??? That is the big difference I think, and dating back a long time people seem to have mentioned how tappy m1 is compared to group 3s.
Currently have m1 in two vehicles, no 3 vehicles. Might try Quaker State Ultimate Durability next to see for myself!

I should claify that the clatter or tapping has not completely gone away, but it has definetly been minmized. As far as Quaker State Ultimate Durability vs. M1 being group 3 and/or group 4, you read so much about this subject either way that I do not know and have not done the research myself to see. As I said earlier, I should try M1 and see if the clatter comes back or maybe try a different syn.and it might do the same. Whatever the case it works for my wifes car. I've got Mobil 1 High Mileage in may Rav but am thinking about trying Valvoline Maxlife and maybe Quaker State Ultimate Durability in that also.

LOL, I used to drive 03 corolla daily (it's my kids car now) and I know exatly how noisy it starts! It's one of the noisiest engines I know (except for diesels). I used a number of different oils in it (5W30 or 10W30) and never noticed a difference. But, I never used Quaker State Ultimate Durability in it. I actually have some Quaker State Ultimate Durability on hand, but plan to use it in another noisy toyota car I own.

Thinking out loud: Quaker State Ultimate Durability replaced QS Qtorgue oil. Qtorque was rumored to be ester-based. Esters are said to decrease engine noise. Who knows? Maybe some of that is true?

Ok there friendly jacek; you know the noise. Well, as I said earlier, maybe it is just happenstance or at least your knowledge of ester based oils just might be the reason. The car runs great and the noise is reduced. Now! will it work in other cars-Who knows? Just have to try it I guess. I have also used Cenex Maxtron in it and the noise was not as loud, so maybe the M1 was just too light or whatever. Thanks for the info.
