As you may be able to tell, I am super anal...I want to be very conservative on fluid change intervals, etc. I change dino oil at 3k religiously, I am planning on 30k trans fluid swaps, PS fluid and brakes every two years. My last question is this...My car came with regular old green coolant. I'm not a big fan of changing anything, so I am most likely going to stick with the green stuff. Could I possibly go 40k miles on the green stuff for an interval? Hyundai is very vague in their coolant suggestion, except for it being quality EG coolant. I was planning on Prestone 50/50.

Also, any websites with a how to on replacing coolant? One thing I have NOT done on a vehicle....

Thanks for the continued help. You are all great!

I'd do it at half the reccommended mileage -- 30K. I just had the dealer do a coolant drain/flush/replace service on my 2004 Tacoma about 5k miles ago. I also had them drain and refill the transmission fluid.

Thanks..I am thinking of bringing the car in at 30k to the dealer...do a transmission refill and coolant service. Relatively cheap insurance.

I agree....the coolant flush is the only thing (usually) I don't do at home...just too much to dispose of.

rsylvstr, Can you pour the used coolant down a sink drain into the sanitary sewer system in your community? I can in mine. many you cannot.

I do coolant every other year. Just drain the radiator and top up. It is not a complete flush, but it is easy and still a conservative interval.
