Need some input for a friend.

Her 2004 Lexus GX470 is in need of a wiper transmission assembly. Car has 280K miles and in otherwise pretty good condition.

A new Lexus part is $400. A used Lexus part can be had for $60-80 with free shipping on EBay with sellers that have 100% good feedback and come with a 60 day to 6 month warranty.
A new aftermarket part can be had from Rock Auto for the same $60-80 dollars. Dorman, I believe.

just say no to Dorman or Cardone. And that comes from somebody who sells both of them all day

A good idea but just not in the budget.

Used OEM. Just be sure that piece isn't a molested OEM part from Cardone. I've installed a 22 year old OEM window motor in my old car after seeing so many Cardone motors fail.

Dorman have lifetime warranty? I have one of their intermittent wiper PC board assemblies on the GMC in my sig, it seems to act up every few years-back to AAP for ANOTHER new one! That said, if it's hard to replace, OEM is probably the way to go.

I would go with the used part since it comes with a decent warranty. Too much difference between the new and used Lexus parts to consider new and I have no faith in Dorman.
