I own a 2001 Honda Civic LX. Total mileage on car is 175,000 miles. The front struts have had to be replaced 4 times due to leaking! Why is Honda having so many problems with these struts? Even the "upgraded" oem replacement struts are failing.

Get Tokicos.

I bet ya even those Monroe Sensatracs would lasts a bit longer than those OEMs.

THe OEMed KYB sucks (the ones on my dad's 2000 failed @35,000kms)

Am I reading correct ??

175,000 miles on a 2001 Civic !!!!! Koni makes nice struts, but they are a little expensive.

The roads around Ottawa are in great shape too! My dads '97 RAV4 went through shocks in 80K km and then after another 140K km but this is in Sudbury where the asphalt is laid down in 3 foot diameter blobs.

The second set of shocks were an updated version and weren't leaking when replaced due to a broken spring. I'm told that the cars with big aluminum wheels get the best shocks spec'd from Toyota.

Yeah your right,I've got more miles on my Honda than my Airbus. I'm just glad that Honda doesn't make landing gear assemblies for aircraft or we would all have serious back problems - not my landings of course!
