Question about OBD diagnostic scanner link error

So, my CEL started coming on on my 2012 Acura TL. Then an error message on the MM stating check Emissions problem (or words to that effect.) It's annoying because the way Honda designs this every time I scroll through the dashboard menu, a warning comes on that I have to clear repeatedly, even to check my tire pressure, or odometer. I am using a cheap Autel scanner that I bought several years ago on Amazon. I've used this scanner before and it always worked. I keep getting a "link error" message. Thinking that the scanner was no good, I stopped at an Advance Auto and they hooked up their scanner, which looked like it had a lot more features than mine, which I think I paid $30 for and now could probably get an equivalent ~$20. Anyway, the AA scanner kept getting the same message. So now I have to look for a burnt fuse? And oddly enough the car has fuses in three different places, the driver's side, the passenger's side and under the hood. Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Acura specifically, but I know that many vehicles put the OBD power and cigarette lighter/12v power point on the same fuse. I had a shorted out cigarette lighter in my Explorer, which had blown the fuse and rendered my OBD port dead until those underlying issues were corrected.

Do a quick search on you tube but in Honda's when the scanner can not communicate to the OB2 port, you have a bad sensor. The sensor is been pulled to ground, the most common one is the MAP sensor Unplug the MAP and see if the scanner can communicate.

Before doing this , check any fuses!

If the scan tool powers up when plugged in, the OBD socket is getting power. I like LazyDog's idea, annoying as this will be to track down.
