I went to my mechanic, and after changing my oil, he added in some anti-freeze (another brand) into the coolant. It wasn't a honda brand, but I was wondering if it was okay. He only added in a little bit, but now its over the max line by an inch.

my car has 5,500 miles on it.

i actually went to the dealer about this, but all they did was check for leaks and then say it was okay. i was willing to spend another 170 for coolant flush, but he said its not necessary. am i just freaking out?

should this be okay?

(acura tsx)

but i am just worried b/c in the manual it says ONLY use acura anti-freeze, and if any other kind is used, it may dilute and cause more corrosion and unnecessary wear.

Your OK if the mechanic used just a bit, all Honda coolant is, a silicate and borate free coolant and the cool blue Color. I just did my Tundra and used Advance auto house brand, its 5 year 150k coolant the same as Prestone in fact its Identical, they label it for Wally world also.

I still purchased a gallon of the Honda blue pre mixed $13 for the Civic.

Assuming it was only a little bit for top off I wouldn't be worried about it. However, I would use a Honda/Acura specialist in the future either dealer or indy. and confirm that they use correct fluids. Honda products use a special sauce power steering fluid and have an unusual automatic transmission design. Go to a shop where they really know what they are doing with Honda/Acura products.
