Question about a device I bought to disable the auto idle-stop feature on my new 2025 Honda Pilot.

Hey guys, I bought this device to hopefully disable that feature but now I’m a little reluctant to use it- not necessarily because it says it’s only for up to a 2024 model but mainly because of how I think this feature works.

After reading about it in the manual, I guess if you run the car in Sport, Snow and Tow modes, that supposedly defaults the feature off so I guess if I knew more about how this thing works, I’d probably feel a little bit better about trying it. Thoughts? Anybody have a 2024 or even a new 2025 pilot that they’ve tried this thing on?

It doesn't effect the programming of the car (which you can disable thru software as well which is more solid but more expensive) it just does the work for you when you start the car. Instead of you pushing the disable button at every startup it does it for you - simple and effective and cheap. It should work on your 2025 as well as I don't see Honda making a change to buttons and connectors since it cost money to do so.

Try and and see is all you can do but no harm will happen.

If it's easy enough to do, I would definitely do it. Not Hondoo, but the first thing I did to the two used 2021 Chevies in my signature was install auto stop/start eliminator harnesses inline on the hood switch harnesses. Simple plug-n-play 2 min job at a cost of ~$10 per harness. There's no disable button on this vintage Traverse and Equinox.

I had a similar device on Atlas. When you start a vehicle, basically, it turns off ASS for you. If you press the button, it will turn it back on. Basically, it does the opposite operation.

So instead of reversing the polarity that I read from someone in a Honda group on Facebook, you’re saying this basically has an internal switch that when the car turns it on, this immediately turns it off? But so if that’s true, wouldn’t this thing turn the auto idle-stop right back on when you select any of the drive modes that by default turns this feature off?

I just press the button and if I forget, oh well.

Please let us know if this device works on the 25.
Oh I will and, you’re right, I could just turn it off each time I drive but see, it’s just like with the seatbelt reminder in those old 2000 year-model Ford super duty’s- you could just push the button on the belt receptacle each time ya drive it to shut off that annoying alarm but I’d much rather just go through the arduous process of buckling, rebuckling the seatbelt how ever many times and then pushing the lock button how ever many times to disable it permanently….😎

It would only pulse one time I would expect and that is manually. You are referring to software modes which, in most cars, the manual switch preference will over ride the software modes if that makes sense. Basically the car knows you don't want auto stop so it won't engage it.

So like I was asking the other guy, what should I expect to happen if I select any of the other drive modes that automatically turns the feature off? Wouldn’t this thing essentially turn it right back on?

I have one in my 22 explorer. It just keeps the last setting used, when car is started. so if it was off, it stays off ect. You can use the button and turn it back on if you so wish.

Nothing! Basically you manually turned ASS off. And that command is default one.

Well guys, it's been a month and this device seems to be working great. I'm not sure how it works but no matter what drive mode you start the car in, it's always off. I say that because some drive modes automatically turn the feature on and some automatically turn it off.

On my Hyundai I wedged the button down with a few bits of a flat toothpick and snipped the bits flush with diagonal cutters.
I can undo with tweezers or needle nose pliers.

So try holding the button down while starting to see if this works for you.

Can you still turn it on?
