Walking through biglots as we speak, I have been to Lowe's, tractor supply, Kmart, sears and WalMart thus far. Sad thing? My claw broke on my old Stanley hammer that was my grandfathers... Probably 40 years old. I have drove 35 miles today looking for a danggone American built hammer, with WalMart being the last place I checked figuring everything in WalMart is cheap Chinese garb. Guess what? Nope. New Vaighn hammer from WalMart 20$ made in the good ol' land of the free

Go to Home Depot. They have more American made Estwing hammers than any other brand on their shelf.

Lowes on the other hand doesnt.

Go to HD. For $20, youll have a beautiful one.

I hope they aren't reading this post. "We still have something not made in China on the shelf? Let's contract to have a Chinese copy made."

I respect their supply chain efficiency, but not the result of them putting the squeeze on suppliers. I remember how much they advertised supporting US industry, while switching to Chinese copies as quickly as they could. Consumers didn't make a knowledgeable choice between quality and price, they just had the Chinese-made product substituted at the same retail price.

Agreed - their Estwing hammer range is virtually unmatched by any other chain home improvement store. This is one of the few scenarios where I would have darkened the doorstep of a Home Depot.

Vaughan Hammers are the best. made in USA

It's a Vaughan stupid phone lol.
Just got home, what was a simple hanging a photo morning turned into ranting at random people in different stores about hammers.

All the Sears stores around me have lots of USA made hammers. All the ones around me have USA Craftsman and Vaughan.

I ran into the local WM with my wife today, so I took a stroll down the tool aisle to check out these made in the USA Vaughan hammers. They had 4 left and they were on the clearance rack ($19). Looks like they were removing the line from inventory, as all of the other hammers were Stanley.

As others have stated, I've seen American made hammers at HD and Sears. Looks like one of the few things that might be relatively easy to find with a Made in USA label on it.

Dont be fooled by some, When I was in tractor supply I saw a nice blue hammer

BRIGHT BOLD Letters "Made from USA Hickory"

small print? "Assembled in Taiwan"

Having Americans buy tools made in the USA just because they are made in the USA is not the answer. The tools need to have better value or features. Italy realized a long time ago they could not compete with China on the cost of clothes but they can compete with fashion and design, which they do very well.

So youre saying there is no value in keeping jobs here versus having more on unemployment or welfare?

There are only so many jobs to go around, and the population isnt shrinking.
