I have no experience with Quaker State ultimate durability just wondering if it's "just [censored] good oil" as they say it is? How does it compare to pp or pyb? 5w-20 Does it contain lots of molybdenum?

It also is offering a 7$/5qt rebate making a jug from Walmart ~$13. Best buy on the shelf right now. Cheaper than conventional, similar in performance to other synthetics.

What brought you to the QSUD and not the semi-synthetic Advanced Durability. My car has 170k and I don't think none of it is good for my car. Just my 2 cents. If you got a car with any kind of miles on it, these new fan-dangled formulation are just trouble brewing and self-instigated, imo.

What?

Advanced Durability is conventional - the synthetic blend used to be called Enhanced Durability now just referred to as Synthetic Blend ... No matter , use the QSUD with confidence - great synthetic oil at a fair price !

What world did this come from? can't make any sense of what you are saying.

My GM-magnetic oil pan bolt was loaded with metal shavings after using the QSUD 5W-20 in a 4.3 engine calling for 5w30. Only time this ever occurred using three different 5W-20 synthetics I inherited from a elderly neighbor that can't drive anymore.

Needless to say, I won't buy QSUD again.

Why would you use a 5W20 oil in an application requiring 5W30 ? That might be a reason for your metal oil shavings issue - QSUD not to blame in this case .

^If we are getting into Magnetic Oil Plug Analyses I have found SN Ultra to leave the magnet on my Gold Plug almost spotless so you are definately on to something in my books if you see a large apples to apples FE accumulation on a loved ride that you monitor closely.

I am with you on this even though some people would call us hacks. This is the reason I got a Gold Plug and recommend them.

My usual answer is...where are all the engine failures with QSUD? How do you explain the good UOA's? That's right, you can't. What the best oil is, we'll never know, but QSUD is certainly one of the better ones!

I guarantee if you use Mobil 1, pppp, QSUD, Edge, Synpower etc, you'll never know the difference in long term durability of any engine.

QSUD is probably as good as anything else you'll find on the shelf at Walmart, so it's pretty darn good.
M1, Ultra or Edge might be better oils, but unless you intend to probe longer than typical drains, none of these will be better than QSUD.
Check out the UOA section and see how QSUD looks after actual use relative to other oils.
