Quaker State Ultimate Durability now claims that it saves fuel

Read it on Quaker States facebook page that Quaker State Ultimate Durability now has a fuel saving additive that helps save fuel. Here is the FB post says:


New Quaker State® Ultimate Durability™ full synthetic motor oil, which now includes a fuel-saving additive, can help save an average of 5 cents per gallon on gas.* Get durability and save: http://quakerstate.com/

*Compared to industry fuel economy (FE) standard as measured in ASTM D7589-9 test w/ SAE 5w30 engine oil. Savings based on avg FE improvement of 1.4% @ $3.68/gal gas. eia.gov

I went on the Website and it says that same.

This appears to be a move in advance of GF-6 which will require additional proven fuel savings. The proof would be to send a new sample for analysis. Will they use moly, titainium or ?? FWIW--Oldtommy

Would it be more proper to say that their new additive will effect a savings based on simulations but your mileage may vary.

Maybe they added a scientifically treated petroleum additive to it. They could call it STP for short. It's so slippery, Andy Granatelli can't even hold the screwdriver!

totally makes sense to switch lets see if anybody else jumps on board.

Crunching the numbers:

Let's say 7,500 mile OCI with 25 mpg = 300 gallons x .05 cents = $15 dollars saved.

If you have beater that only gets 20mpg, then your savings add up to $18.75 dollars. The more you burn, the more you save!!

I have been using tropartic w/5k oci. good and cheap. but being able to stretch out the oci, getting more miles and doing it cheaper per mile, the savings more than pays for the extra cost of the nicer oil..

when my stash is gone, I think im switching back to the high grade stuff..
