QSAD SN Rated Now Closer To PYB ?

Most would agree that a comparison between conventional oils Quaker State Advanced Durability and Pennzoil Conventional would say Quaker State Advanced Durability has better friction modifiers while Pennzoil Conventional has the better cleaning package . With the new Quaker State Advanced Durability in SN rating can we assume the cleaning add pack would have to be improved to meet the SN spec ? If so , perhaps Quaker State Advanced Durability and Pennzoil Conventional have now moved closer together (in terms of protection & cleaning) in the new SN rating ?

AFA SN/GF-5 oils go and my professional highly subjective seat of the pants obervations (gas mileage is the MOST telling): I've run the new Pennzoil Conventional and didnt love it. Mileage drop and oddly rougher running engine. Seemed to stay in grade though which the previous MC5K didnt. Optionally, I am having good luck with MC-SS GF-5/SN blend in the Yaris, also, the jury is out on Mobil Super SN/GF-5 as it just went in the Forester this past Sunday. I'm on my 3rd OCI with SN already!

It was always a good solid oil IMO. Pennzoil and QS are always pretty close with Pennzoil gaining an edge as the Platinum and Ultra take over. Quaker State Advanced Durability or Pennzoil conventional SN would be a flip of a coin for my decision.

I should add when I'm comparing Quaker State Advanced Durability SN to Pennzoil conventional SN conventional oils I would be looking at a 4000 mile OCI . I just tried Pennzoil conventional SN rated 5w20 in my 2010 Elantra and my butt dyno says it is smoother running than the bulk Kendall Synthetic Blend 5w20 that it replaced .

We could take it one step further and ask Johnny : Will SN rated Quaker State Advanced Durability conventional and Quaker State Ultimate Durability (synthetic) move closer to Pennzoil conventional and PP (synthetic) in measurable qualities such as cleaning ? The previous take away I have on previous SM rated Quaker State Advanced Durability and Quaker State Ultimate Durability is : Better wear protection while the SM rated versions of Pennzoil Conventional and Pennzoil Platinum were known for : Better cleaning properties .

This is purely just my opinion since they are not feeding me info like they use to. The new SN Quaker State products, both conventional and synthetics probably move up in to the category where the SM rated Pennzoil Conventional and Pennzoil Platinum were. The new SN Pennzoil Conventional and Pennzoil Platinum are still what I call a notch above the Quaker State counter parts. And most of that has to do with the additive packages used in both brands.

Don't ask me for proof because I have none. But that's the way it has always been between the two brands and I don't see any reason they would change the rules now.

My wife's Element has PP in it and my son's Element has Quaker State Ultimate Durability in it, and I sleep well at night.

Either conventional will easily get you to 5K and either synthetic will easily get you to 7.5K+
