Saw it at Wallyworld Last night when i went to go Pick Up Oil for my Grand pa's Truck advertised for 14.999 5qt jug. was tempted but I never Liked any shell/Penzoil Product.PYB Kind of Gives me goose Bump's . But Defy Looked pretty good on advertisement. anybody useing it on the forum? I Use 5w30 Kendall GT-1 Synblend with a wix in his truck.

If you pay with $15, how do you get your change? 1 deci-cent?

Defy is good.

I assume you know QS Defy is a shell product, an is the "lower" version of Pennzoil. Why does PYB give you goose bumps, it probably has the best additive package for a conventional oil!

So did you get the Defy, or just look at it?

Sopus products are great though.

Defy looks like good stuff on paper, many on here seem to like it, I do have it on deck for my next OCI due to FAR. The one UOA I've seen on it was 10w30 and it didn't seem all that shear stable to me for a 10w30, I'd really like to see a good run on 5w30.

Defy is probably well aimed at your average HM oil buyer DIY'er type, whose is going to change it at 3-4k anyway.

I have to disagree flat tappet does not equal need zddp.

I am currently using DEFY 5w30 in my older Firebird FORMULA V8-4bbl. And it has made the engine the smoothes/quietest even compared to MaxLife or Castrol HM/Castrol Start-Up. A little too quiet for this particular car(lost some rumble) and not quite to my liking for this particular car(although, I don't hate it and I may stay with it).

But, I love the smooth/quiet in our other cars.

ATMOF, I am using QS oils(QSUD, QSGB, DEFY) in all of my cars right now and it certainly has made my engines as smooth/quiet as any of the best oils that I have tried. Or I should say...certain oils make engines quiet compared to others and QS oil is one of them!

Ive used the 5-30 QSdefy in my z. She started to leak at 120k miles so defy is what went in. Felt solid and the price is on point but I wasnt to fond of the api sj rating.

Im not sure if its changed but I ended up just using maxlife for that reason.

Other than that it gets my thumbs up.

Not surprised at all, I think it's the boron heavy add packs. Every boron heavy oil I've tried so far has resulted in quiet running. I suspect this is one of the reasons Hyundai/KIA have been using/recommending QSGB for a number of years, they've received some criticism for engine noise and the boron heavy QSGB does a good job of quieting those engines down.

No, the heaviest grade listed is 10w40. But the 10w40 has even higher levels of ZDDP than the rest of the Defy line up, about 1200 ppm zinc vs the 1000 ppm the rest have.

I have a jug of 5w30 I am soon going to use, but if I do it again it'll probably be a blend of 5w30 and 10w40.

I am running 5W-30 on my Galant and Cutlass and I can say oooowwweeee has it make my engine run smooth and quiet I can see myself always running defy from now on. I love quaker state I'm actually planning on dumping MC and run QSUD on my Lincoln Aviator. Defy is very great stuff and for the price is an awesome deal. 2 thumbs up!!

Every Time I see PYB On Sale at work customer's avoid it like the plague and get the same old Pennzoil Story" I have a Buddy who use nothing but Pennzoil and left Coating's and Gunk Up the Motor" I had my issue's with PYB back In High school when I drove my old c1500 5.7 Which saw nothing but Mobil Clean oil and one time i use PYB for having a free oil change at kwik car did not last no more then a week then started knocking, come to find out the dummy who did my Oil change forgot to screw the oil filter in correctly. I honestly look at Quality Vs Quantity I never understood how Pennzoil can make oil's change's at a average shop for less then 17.99 and still make a little profit.
but yes i ended up buying Castrol Synblend 5w30 for his 5.7 I had the GT-1 when Firestone had to damage out a case of Oil so i used it for my grand pa's truck.

How was that an oil failure?

I just changed the oil in a high mileage vehicle that had some minor seal leaks and oil consuptions issues using Quaker State Defy. After doing this, I happened read some articles that the ZDDP (zinc) additive from the exhaust of an oil burning engine can contaminates catalytic converters (leading to quicker failure ). As the car is somewhat of a slight oil burner, I will be drain out the QS Defy very soon and either go back with another HM or conventitional oil that doesn't push ZDDP .
