Three years ago I was looking for exactly what
you wanted, Stuart...

Wound up with a Southland....

It's marked " Garden Pride 22" " and has 16 "
wire rear wheels, a 6 h.p. B&S flat head....

I think Southland Mower Company is now out of
business....

Anyway, kept noticing notches in the blade....

Looked like I'd been hitting big rocks or something, which I handn't....

At the hardware store where I bought the mower
I asked the manager if he'd had any complaints
about the blades on this kind of mower....

He said, "Yes, I've got one of those mowers and
it does exactly the same, just like pieces of
metal fly out of the cutting edge, good mower, but cheap metal in the blade"....

Yikes....

So, I bought a 22 " mulching blade for about
$15.00....

Watch that blade on any new low-priced mower !!

I'll call Troy-Bilt on Monday before I go out of my way to go back to that store. It will be an opportunity to see if their customer service is any good. If they give me any grief I'll let ya know. Even if they blow me off, I'd keep the mower. I like it too well. I did some bagging with it yesterday and some mulching today, no complaints at all. I considered paying a bit more and getting a Toro, but I didn't want a Tecumseh engine. The Honda will suit me just fine.

Got on the phone with the Troy-Bilt parts dept. Was promised they will ship the side discharge chute tomorrow, should receive in 3-5 days. Well see.

At 6:05 pm today the UPS truck arrived with the side discharge chute for the Troy-Bilt. According to the receipt, it wasn't shipped 6/6 as promised but was shipped 6/7. It only had to travel about 80 miles to get here. So I'm a happy camper now. Total time from phone call to delivery-74 hours. One gold star to Troy-Bilt customer service.

*Burnout, while GA & I have both bought the Honda-powered Troy-Bilt big wheel at Lowe's, thanks for the heads-up.

This probably doesn't matter anymore, but Sears has a honda powered push mower. 100% positive about this one, my Sam's Club post earlier was NOT a push mower.
