That'll work or a sae hd30

Sounds good! T5 15W-40 is stout.

I stopped consumption in mine with straight grade Delo 400 SAE 40. No more top-offs. YMMV.

Run the T5.

I run HDEO, pretty much any weight. 10w30 to satisfy the owners manual is my usual go-to, otherwise 15w-40 if I have some lying around that I need to use.

Delo and other brands have an HDEO straight-30 weight which would be ideal in OPE that is used primarily in the summer. 30 weight should be more resistant to viscosity improvers and such breaking down.

What come in the box with mower? Usually a bottle or bag of sae 30

5W30, 10W30, straight 30, and 5W40. I've used them all w/o any issues. My current mower is over 20 years old.

What new push mower includes straight 30W? Most-all include 10W30 these days.

Not really 10w30 has higher consumption my mower recommend 30 or 5w30 full synthetic

From the manufacturer:

Quote
Different oil types can work best at certain temperatures. Learn which one to choose for your climate.

SAE 30- Warmer temperatures, most common oil for small engines.
SAE 10W-30- Varying temperature range, this grade of oil improves cold weather starting, but may increase oil consumption.
Synthetic SAE 5W-30- Best protection at all temperatures as well as improved starting with less oil consumption.
SAE 5W-30- Very cold temperatures.
Vanguard 15W-50- Varying temperature range. For continuous-use, such as commercial lawn cutting or pressure washing.
When choosing lawn mower oil, use a high quality detergent oil classified as "For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ" or higher. Do not use special additives.

Synthetic oils are an acceptable oil at all temperatures. Use of synthetic oil does not alter required oil change intervals.

Can you use synthetic lawn mower oil? Yes!

Synthetic Lawnmower Oil by Briggs & Stratton
We have modified our engine oil recommendations to state that you may now use a synthetic 5W30 (100074WEB) or 10W30 oil in all temperature ranges. We recommend the use of Briggs & Stratton Synthetic Oil. The use of this high quality detergent oil assures compliance with Briggs & Stratton warranty requirements regarding the use of appropriate oil.

Engine break-in procedures using synthetic oil remain the same. Keep in mind that the use of synthetic oil does not prevent you from performing your regularly scheduled lawn mower maintenance (i.e. check oil, change oil, etc.)

*Below 40°F (4°C) the use of SAE 30 will result in hard starting.
**Above 80°F (27°C) the use of 10W30 may cause increased oil consumption. Check oil level more frequently.

I just use whatever is left from my 5Q jug (B&S 7hp), currently M1 EP 0w-20. I change it every 3-4 years. Most anything will work.

Just about anything will work here.
Whatever is laying around and left over.
This is the perfect situation to not think too much...

The only way to goof this up is to have 'not enough' in the sump.

Autozone had a couple 10w30's on clearance ... sometimes I don't find enough of one kind to do oil changes and then that's good mower stash ...

As long as you check it before every use, it doesn't matter what you use. It is that simple.Running low on oil is the engine killer, not what viscosity it is.

I agree with this I don't think it really matters what you use but just remember to actually service it as most mowers die from lack any service and just get replaced as soon as they are a not start because of no service.

How is it worded?
What specific mower and engine is it?
How old is the push mower?
