I have a 2003 Chevy 2500HD with a Duramax. I recently replaced the airfilter with a Purolator OEM replacement. I couldn't see paying $30.00 for an AC Delco. The Purolator has a few less pleats, but other than that it looks OK. Can anyone tell me if Purolator makes a good OEM replacement?

AC Delco often makes two filters for truck applications. A normal filter and an extra capacity one. I know for a fact the Fram one has about half as many pleats as the normal AC one, and mearly a fraction of the extra capacity AC. You may want to double check on the price for both models. Alot of times the extra capacity one may be worth it.

I hate to say this, but the Purolator I put on my truck looked like a piece of trash compared to the Fram I took off.

I agree w/ labman. In the two applications I switched over, the Wix/Napa Gold had a ton more media than the Purolators they replaced. Don't know if that's true with all xrefs of course.

Number of pleats is only one of the variables. Total media area, type of media, coating on media and of course the pore size distrabution. Ed

Depends on the Application I guess. On my car, the Purolator had way more area than the NAPA or Fram.
