My idea was deemed too political. I thought it was fantastic! . . .

I like this idea! It would probably be tough to sell it to DoD, however. The federal government's Standards of Conduct prohibit the appearance of endorsements of commercial products, but I'll have to admit I think it would be fun to collect a set of Purolator filters with unit insignia on them. Go Army, Beat Navy!

Actually I did read what you wrote but shortened it for brevity sake. If that somehow changed the semantic meaning that was not the intent.

The larger point (non quoted portion) for me, was that the Purolator acquisition by another company, for whatever reason/purpose, was somehow unique in the filter manufacturing business. And, the seeming implication that it had led to an overall lessening of quality by pointing to one recent thread, which even the OP has acknowledged here can happen occasionally. While I have had good success with Purolator oil filters and find them to be an excellent value, I too acknowledge that errors can happen.

On the plus side, the acquisition now adds Bosch (eg., Premium, Dist. Plus) filter production to Purolator from Champ. And, while now foreign owned, the oil filters still being manufactured here is a plus for me.

Lastly, since you seem to be in the know regarding the Fayetteville manufacturing plant, perhaps you could arrange for me to get a tour of the plant. Close enough that it would make a great day trip. Never heard it mentioned though, so perhaps they don't that.

Purolator filters are not only manufactured in Fayetteville, but are also engineered here as well. A number of the engineers go to my church. I have asked one of them about plant tours and they don't typically do that, but I'm still trying to get in.

Hmm, I went on a Jelly Belly tour a few years back, and to be honest I think a tour of the Purolator factory would be much cooler!!!!

+1

Purolators both P1 and regular are better built than the OCOD. The exception would be the Extended Guard (really well built filter, but P1 is about a buck cheaper).

Only if you don't know how to shop...
A: there is a 3 dollar rebate per filter on P1's.
B: retailmenot.com

Right now, with the $3 rebate one can buy 4 P1's at AAP, or 3 at Amazon, for the average Wally price of an XG.
