There was a faulty glued seam on this one so decided it was better to cut & post here. This is their older 10,000 mile version. The newer Purolator One's are advertised as 15,000 miles now.

Below incorporates a black piece that "Sit's" on top of the actually bypass valve in the truck. It just moves with the real bypass ball in the truck. Just imagine wearing a hat & you push your head down your hat would follow with you. This piece is not even spring loaded but just slides up and down if the bypass ever opened up.

So it resets via gravity?
By itself no but when it sits on top of the ball on the truck then it becomes spring loaded. There is a spring loaded "Stalk" or "Straw" in the center of the filter housing on the truck. That section is the spring loaded bypass valve. On top of the spring loaded bypass there is a ball shape. This filter has a female concave shape that sits on top of that ball. Essentially, the filter "ball" sits on top of the spring loaded bypass valve "ball" stalk.
