in service 6000 miles

out/off: 6 quarts Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage 5w30 with Purolator Boss PBL22500

in/on: 1 quart HPL Engine Cleaner 30 and 5 quarts Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage 5w30 with Carquest Premium 84502

these filters are built very well and are M+H’s top of the line. just wish they could build efficiency as well as they did the rest of the filter. i’d say these are the best constructed filters of the american companies second only to premium guard XL.

IMO Carquest would be second since it sounds like that's based on efficiency. Efficiency being officially known on the Boss would put it at #1. Boss having reinforced "Smart fusion" media is another great aspect over the PG. PG is hard to beat if you get them for a reasonable cost. As for the c&p...boring=good.

Umm, did you drink the delulu juice today?

Thanks for the photos. These look good but regardless I don't see the point of running a tennis racket on an expensive equipment. OEM might do better for less. Good call on the Carquest, those are a solid replacement.

The only problem with PG is while they do have amazing QC they do have some issues with excess glue at times, I also noticed the correct specified filter for my Chevy had a bypass valve which is not correct, 4.3 Vortec's have the bypass built in it should not be on the filter.

I personally will not use any M&H made products until they fix the QC all throughout their brands.

No, BOSS wouldn’t make list. Donaldson white and Blue can would
If made for a persons application, absolutely. I wasn’t going for all oil filters above the boss, just the main ones talked about lately readily available for vast majority of peoples applications

it really is unfortunate because if you cut a Boss apart, it is built like an absolute tank with tons of pleats. they really just need to tweak the media. i love the M+H base plate. it’s super heavy duty and their ADBV is soft as it gets. fram’s perfect seal gasket sticks every time. M+H’s gasket releases everytime with ease.
