UM LOL DP on the right??

Thank you for scaraficing these 2 filters. makes me feel real good about P1 and bosch

Yeah, I think P1 on the left and the DP on the right.

Aren't Bosch filters made my Purolator? So I'd expect them to be extremely similar

DP on right, P1 on left, just a guess though. I could go look at rr thread but it's just for fun. Both look very similar and well made. DP ~$13 is out of my price range.

+1 on giving them up for the board. Thanks.

Did you put the black marks on the endcap on the right?

Yes.

Isn't the DP and extended drain Filter?

All of the P1's i have seen have the lighter color media

Yes, Thank you! Very generous of you to do this.

I think the question is... why would you pay more (DP) vs. (P1) ?

yea i've never been able to find out how long pureones are actually good for. do you think it'd be fine to run one for 15k miles?

I did put the black marks on the end cap on the right.

LOL I guess it wouldn't have mattered if I had looked at r_r bench test pics. The new P1's media generally appears lighter for the apps he tested. Just curious what application those are?

I am not sure what all applications they fit but the numbers for the filters are D3402 for the Bosch and PL14670 for the Purolator

what do u mean yes and no? what'd the purolator rep say exactly?

Also a side note but something I found interesting, the baseplate of the DistancePlus weighs 10oz by itself.

Talked to two reps over a 1 year period, one rep a guy(seemed like a smart man) said no they don't recommend long intervals because there not designed or advertised as a extended drain filter, talked to a second rep here jus the other day a woman and she said yes P1 are fine to use following manufactures recommendation OCI, so i proceed to ask ok if that manufactures recommendation OCI is 10,000 miles is a P1 capable? she said yes!.

so take it for what it's worth.

I think they are both right. If a manufacturer recommends a long drain interval the P1 most likely has as much holding capacity as the OEM filter. But if a manufacture does not recommend a long drain interval the possibilty of the filter not being able to keep up with the holding capacity is there.

Seems like a lot of quess work but I would assume the P1 has a higher holding capacity to make up for its higher efficiency that it would generally have the service life of an average filter. Some of them are allowed to go 10K miles or so per manufacturer OCI. Although personally if I were to go much over 5k miles I'd get a long life filter.
