Punch kit for 20 ton press doesnt fit?

I have a strongway 20 ton shop press from northern tool. I bought a few punch accessories for it off summit and they're all about 1/16" too big in diameter to fit under the press. Did I buy the wrong thing?

The largest adapter is rated at 50 tons...Meaning these adaptors are made for a 50 PLUS ton rated press...Probably a 75 ton. At 20 tons I'm not sure pre-made adaptors are available or if your Ram can accept accessories at all??

It came with one black steel accessory. If they turned it down another .060" it would fit fine.

So, What's the pilot diameter? (The part that slips into the ram)

One thing I've learned is low tonnage cheap presses are trash, They flex & move around far lower than the their rating.

What if I took all 5 to a machine shop and had them turn them down 1/16"? Wonder what that would cost

I bet somebody (small) local would charge $25-$50, more at fancy shop


BTW I just use cheap sockets in my 20T Harbor Fright press

I never shattered any sockets. I only did one dumb thing, and lost a cheap 22mm deep socket that wasn't deep enough and got jammed on a spindle. I have many spare parts and didn't give a rat for the Chinese socket, and threw the whole thing in the iron scrap bin

Why? if people just use sockets I'll just do that. Why pay out more money when I can get my money back? Not like I don't have enough sockets
