Received a belt tensioner and pulley for 2008 6.0 from Rock Auto. The originals with 210,000 miles had significant play. The new ones have a small amount of play. I had already replaced the power steering pump, AC compressor belt, and AC compressor belt tensioner. They are fairly cheap so I went ahead with a proactive approach. I’ll keep an eye on the water pump and alternator. The two belts are new as well. This part of my goal of reaching 300,000 miles. :)

I did the same preventative maintenance but at 100k since that is the generally acceptable life of a belt.

Check the printing on the dust seal of the pulley. If those pulleys are made in china, you should not expect the same service life as the originals.

Great. I only ever replace them when they fail I’ve never had one fail lol. Yesterday I done my first manual tensioner though and I didn’t know it was manual and nearly broke off the pulley I was trying to move lol 😂.

I did them on my moms 2008 Silverado 5.3 earlier this year (when it got warm sometime in May). It was later when I had to do the AC tensioner and belt that I mentioned in another thread.

Lately I’ve been just swapping out the tensioner with a good belt when the time comes. My new to me 2015 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi got a new one with a green Fleetrunner belt, and I did the same service on my 2010 Crown Vic (Bando belt on that one).

I installed them today. The pulley on the belt tensioner was noisy and had some play. The idler pulley also had a bit of play. I was able to do the work with the fan shroud in place. The fan shroud was molded in such a way to allow a ratchet wrench to be used. Also I used a belt tensioner tool to rotate the tensioner. So now the pulleys, PS pump and both belts have been replaced. All good.

Thank you. I was looking at the same for my 07 Avalanche.
I may splurge and go with the Delco OEM however. Visually, the two lines don't look very different though. Not that I'd expect to see a big difference.
