Hindsight is 20/20. The whole thing was surreal that I was left kind of flat footed at the time. Fortunately, I had never had anything like this happen to me before (or after.)
If I had a do-over on this, I would have ended the transaction out in the parking lot after he got in the car and made a comment about the steering rack. That comment should have been the tip off right there.
Oil was fine and I did see him take a clean filter out of new packaging.
As for the $$, you are correct, I never did see it (despite many promises from the manager of the store and the regional manager.) However, I refuse to make myself miserable about it and chalk it up to an inexpensive life lesson ( many people have had life lessons that were much more expensive than this.)
I had spent a good many dollars at NTB in general and quite a few at this one as it was close to work and I could get things done during dead time when I had to go back to work in the evenings. Never again will I ever walk into an NTB.
