Seems the small neo magnet was placed in a less than ideal spot, pushing on the adbv and causing it to fail at its job... good idea, poor execution.
 
That's exactly the configuration I was talking about Linctex. Or what Allison transmission does on their spin on filters. I have two Allison trans magnets that I'm going to try out on the Freestyle (and maybe the Marauder) if they fit.

Filter looks great. The media resembles the Fram Ultra filters, nice and thick. Thanks for the C&P.

I would not suggest an AlNiCo magnet like the one shown - they lose their magnetism when they get hot.
 
I did not know that. The magnet shown is for an Allison trans spin on filter and they always have lots of junk on them when serviced. I am however more of a fan of neo magnets just due to their small size and pulling power.

The rate of flow is far less with a trans filter, I think only 1-2 GPM....

I worry about an engine at high RPM's "washing off" a magnet like that
