The OE headlights of my almost 9 years old E430 are getting very yellow, I can either clean the headlights as 97tbird did to his car with Crystal View Headlight Cleaning Kit or replace OE headlights with Depo Projector Headlights as below:

Does anyone have experience with Depo Projector Headlights as OE replacement, also does it have a good beam pattern ? The Depo looks very good on the car, but I do not know if the light output is as good as OE. I don't want to upgrade to HID with Depo Projector Headlights, just use H7 bulbs.

I don't know much about the Depo lights. I have seen after market lights become very yellow in a very short time. If at all possible, try to clean up your headlights and you will be surprised at the increase in light output from this simple task. Save your $300...

HTSS_TR,

Hello,

Don't go out and buy Depo halogen projectors then stick an H7 hid kit in them EEEK! I'm a member on the hidplanet dot com website and many people over there have tried this and got nasty results. Halogen bulbs and HID capsules have completely different focal points, add that to a HID bulb giving off three times more light and you get poor cutoff beam with lots of glare. Also go to danielsternlighting.com He is a well respected person in the lighting community, and no I don't work for him nor am afilliated with him. I hope this helps. P.S> If you want HID lighting go with a retrofit, you'll be really pleased at the results. You can buy parts from ebay or the hidplanet site that are OEM. "HID Kits" were all the rage due to dropping prices and being supposedly "plug and play" which creates horrible results. If you have further questions you can send me a PM.

After some more researches I found that the beam pattern of Depo projector headlight is not very good, much worse then the OE's beam pattern. I don't have any intention to upgrade to HID as of now, if I change my mind I'll PM you for more advises.

I tried to clean the headlight's plastic covers, the passenger side are very clear almost as new but the diver side lens have some haze/cloud inside the lens. I'm not capable to remove the whole headlight assembly and then remove the lens to clean the inside, I'll try to use some blowers like hair drier to see if the haze can be removed.

how about new real MB headlights???

If you have an MB, why cheap it up?

You could look for ebay or junkyard headlights. Some of the w210 lights have replaceable lenses.
