I have a problem with the power seat on our recently acquired 1999 Toyota Camry. The forward/backward and up down functions work fine, but the recline function will only barely move the seat back a couple of degrees from fully forward, and that, only if there is no weight on the seat. If you're sitting in it you get a click from the motor but no motion. If you operate the switch from outside the car, with no load on the seat, you can hear the motor whir, it will move slightly back off vertical, and then stops.
I'm thinking the motor and switch are ok since it does move some - it isn't totally dead. I took the seat out of the car and looked at it some, but didn't see anything obviously wrong. The drive cables are not broken, appear well lubricated and can be turned freely by hand in their sheaths.
Anyone seen anything like this before? Any help would be most appreciated.
