I ordered my AFE Pro Dry S a few weeks ago. Today it finally arrived. I'm kind of pisssed about the packaging though. By the part number (31-10020) I ordered it's described on every website as Pro dry S media, 98+ ford explorer etc. When I received it, with that same part number written all over the box, the box says things like "pre-oiled", "4 plies of oiled cotton Gauze" and also recommends me to buy their re-oiling kit.... It has an exploded view of the filter material so I can see the 4 seperate layers etc. However that part number is for a 2 layer dry media, not oiled, not cotton gauze. So now I'm worried that I didn't get the filter I paid for, all because of poor packaging.

I'm hoping they're using old boxes for the cotton oiled filters and sticking labels of the Pro dry S filters onto the old boxes. Has anyone else noticed this?

One more thing, I had to clean the filter before installing it because the engine side of the filter was full of debris like dust, cardboard, shreds of cotton, paper, etc. The box it came in was crushed completely on one side even though the delivery box looked uncrushed...

Sure gto78, The filter is so new that they are using the box for some of their other filters. I have two on hand and a third in the works. The two I have are boxed as you describe. Both of the filters were clean and needed no cleaning before instalation.

Ok, I'm glad to know that I probably have the pro dry s filter, not the oiled filter that the box says I got. It would have been nice for at least one person at AFE to put a note or letter in the box telling me that it's mis labeled. I'm not really happy with them right now because of this. That's just poor planning, I mean honestly, how hard is it to print out a sheet of paper with that explanation?

I agree 100%, fortunately, the filter is fantastic! Altought I am disappointed with the packageing, I am very pleased with this filter's performance. I would recommend it even if it was wrapped in newspaper.

I just received my third Pro Dry S. Sure enough, it is in a box for another AFE filter type. The only distinguishing difference is a small stylized sticker proclaiming "PRO DRY S"

Oh you got a pro dry s sticker? I got an afe sticker- and a do not throw away filter sticker.

Yes gto78, the Pro Dry S sticker was attached to the box in the right hand corner. Since nobody else touches my car, the do not throw away sticker was thrown away :)
