Strange how much useful info I'm learning about computers from am motor oil based forum. Anyway, looking for a home printer that can accept wireless for my wife Apple devices, and I also use a notebook via cable that will support Mint 17. Probably a B&W machine. Currently own a Lexmark, not Linux friendly.

I have a Brother Laser wireless that works with Linux, Google O/S (Chromebook and Chromebox), + Windows 10.

Their web site should give all you the info you need.

Brother is good if you want laser

The Brother DCP-L2540DW Wireless Monochrome All-In-One Laser
usually goes for around 100-120$ on sale.

I don't know about it's Linux compatibility, but I would recommend the HP LaserJet P1102w. I got a refurbished one from Staples for about $80 on sale. That was a year ago. We went through the starter toner but are still working on the first replacement. I have been using the same model printer at work for six years now.

Another linux user here using a "DCPL2540DW Wireless". I can also print from Android and IOS wirelessly.

The only pain point is when you change your router password. Changing the password on the printer is a bit tedious.

I just bought this at WM, "Canon PIXMA MG2922 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Printer/Copier/Scanner
$35.52
Was $46.54
Save $11.02"

I paid list price for it, now it's on sale. Works really well. Hope it holds up better then the HP piece of shout that I junked.

Can't vouch for Linux but this aforementioned brother is wonderful. Relatively inexpensive ink and works quite well with pc, chromebook(cloud print), Apple print and Windows. Beyond happy ....

If it works on a Mac then it will work on Linux, they both use CUPS

I have a brother 7860dw with almost 24,000 prints on it. I replaced the toner the other day and it prints fantastically. I never have to worry about ink getting used up or drying and print heads clogging. It can only print in shades of black/grey but the reliability is so worth it over any color ink printer. I don't know how compatible it is with linux/apple but brother is where its at as far as laser printers.

I have this printer, HP has excellent Linux support.

Purchased the Brother HL-L2360W from Staples for <$100. Connected it to my Mac, PC, iPhone, wife's iPhone, daughters iPhone, wife iPad. All went smoothly. Just have to try with Linux. Haven't had the chance to play with that. Might be back asking for advice if I cant do it. Thanks to all who played. -Ted

That's one of their slightly sub-par models. Still decent but the printer output is not quite as good as other models.
also could have gotten an all-in-one with scanner/copier function for about 100$ on sale or 129$ currently.

I have good luck with my Samsung CLP-315W color laser. I use it with Windows and Linux.

I think there are newer versions now. I've had mine for years.
