to pass inspection here in texas you have to have working windshield wipers....

BUT

you do not have to have a windshield !!!!!

all states have some weird law.

some front plate some not
most dont require seatbelts if not installed originally - ie 50s
most trucks dont have to have a rear bumper because its an "option"

I agree that for the most part it's what the nut behind the wheel wants and can tolerate. I think the most important part is that he enjoys it. He built it the way he wanted it and gets out there with it, has fun and shares his project with others.

There was a time when the "plate and registration" classes of racing were loaded with cars built by enthusiasts that actually were real street cars, some actually regularly street-driven by real people. You would see people unbolting the street wheels/tires to put on their racing setup right at the strip. Some left the street setup on the front.

Now, these classes have been invaded by racing chassis with lights added. It's pretty sad if you were around when these cars were the real deal.

One of the last, really fast, "real deal" street cars.

Yeah for street drag cars, I think Larry Larson was king of the hill.

I did some searching and saw that his name was on the entrants list but didn't see where he competed.
