I have a stash of Prestone long life/Dexcool, and am wondering if I can use this in my 2006 Nissan pathfinder without issue?
With distilled watewer of course
Prestone “Long-Life”? It might contain some 2-EHA, but is it actually “Dex-Cool” (Prestone does make labeled Dex, I use it in my Express)? Asian manufacturers have never been Dex nor 2-EHA fans, they like the phosphate based “P-OATs’, like Zerex Asian, Nissan Blue, Toyota Red or Pink, etc. Peak 10X seems to be a good, cheap choice too, my Guinea pig (brother’s ‘01 Accord 2.3) seems to like it!
Terrified is the wrong word-but it can sure cause issues with wet GM nylon intake manifold gaskets! Or mixed with IAT green, or run low in a cast iron engine, etc. Dex really does well in a maintained engine that’s designed to use it (unless it’s a big Ford Tranisit, plugs the heater core).
