pressure washer pump

From the write up of an AR vertical shaft pump that is $200 on sale (pump alone).

"Most pumps are only designed to last for approximately 50 hours of use. This pump is designed to last for 500 + hours of use."

The machines (for the most part) at the HomeDepot, etc are built with what they think people are looking for. People know Honda engines, they may have one on their lawnmower. But few people know about the pump brands. So they use a cheap pump.

Don't count out an electric pump. I just got a new Stanley electric pump for $75 off CL. Its all they I need on wood siding or deck. Little chance of doing damage. Especially if others help out.

I have a gas one also (and a hot water). But an electric one is very handy with its easy on and off.

I like Cat pumps but AR, General, and Comet are all good. Triplex is a durable design but a good axial will last a long time for a homeowner.

Keep in mind that a top of the line "residential" pressure washer still costs less than the pump alone on a good commercial machine.

The Cat pump we use in our trucks is a 1500 dollar piece remanufactured! I shudder to think how much a brand new one goes for.

Is the second one worth twice the price for a homeowner? I will use this with a long telescoping pole for washing my 2 story siding and cleaning my patio and sidewalks, Driveway , garage pad. Might use it on the travel trailer.

The second one has a better engine and pump. If that is a concern then you should spend more. Both will give you the same performance, the second one is rebuildable 10 years from now. That may or may not be a concern.

Big plus on the dewalt is the 50' hose, very nice to have. 25' hose = your buying another one.

With my wife's military discount and 5% discover discount it was downright cheap. Very powerful machine. Lots of pressure, so i use wider nozzles for most stuff and really clean fast.

$200 more gets you the GX390 version with even more power, but mine does what i need it to.

Generac has their own engine designs and for better or worse is owned by Briggs now. Engine is probably pretty good, but a Honda GX is more desirable imo. The Annovi Reverberi pump looks very nice though, even if it is only 2.8 gpm. If $599 is the top of your budget for this tool, i'd say go for it. If you can put another $200 in it, the 3800 Dewalt is worth it.

That Generac is 8400 cleaning units for 599, or 7.1 cents per cleaning unit. Dewalt 3800 is 13300 cleaning units for 799 6.0 cents per cleaning unit.

You can always throttle down the bigger unit or run larger nozzles, but there's no making the smaller unit pump more water or a higher PSI.

After getting used to the power of my 3800, i almost wish i spent the 200 more for the 4200 model. You gotta draw the line somewhere. I wanted to be around $400 for a pressure washer when i first started shopping.
