Preparing a mix: RotellaT and QS Torque Power 5w20

I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to "mix" different oils, but for the sake of using up what you have those products will run together just fine.

I hate to admit it, but the V10 in my F350 has gotten the "drippings" from pails/jugs in the shop several times.

Well here we are, barely a month later, and I'm approaching 5,000 miles on the oil change. I'm going to change it out with Rotella T6 5w40 in the next couple of weeks, and I'll get a UOA on the Rotella when it comes out to see if I can extend that out to perhaps 7.5k. 12 oil changes a year is a lot (at 5,000 miles)!

If this engine has very low consumption, why not just use QSUD 5W-30.
I doubt that it needs the extra thick Rotella 5W-40.
Given your climate and use, you could probably also do 7.5K drains on FAR Nextgen Maxlife.
Just a thought.

In all likelyhood I will be switching back to QSUD/PP after the Rotella. I just really wanted to try it to be honest...

I'm sure a 30-wt is fine, I just wanted to see how a 40wt does, and what it looks like after maybe 5 or 6000 miles (UOA). I dunno how hot that engine gets but I doubt its too awful cool running ~80+ MPH for 3 hours a day; maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway most likely next oil change will be whatever 5w30 syn grabs my eye. Just did the plugs, wires, PCV valve, air filter, and transmission oil a week or so ago. I am quite interested in some of the MaxLife stuff. The NextGen being the recycled Valvoline? I assume it probably works out to about the same percentage conventional/synthetic as regular MaxLife? I'm not afraid of the NextGen, just curious about it.

It drives better than ever with 192,000 on the ticker.

Highway driving is very easy on any car, and an 80 mph cruise will not seriously heat the oil.
Tracking a car is hard on the car and its oil.
A moderately fast highway drive isn't.
Still, try your blend and see how it goes.
You certainly aren't going to cause any harm.

Just to clarify, what's coming out is QS Torque Power Syn + Rotella 15w40 at a ~10w30 mix. The oil going in possibly this weekend is the Rotella 6T 5w40 syn.
